Ashley has worked for HSBC for 17 years, having initially joined as a Mortgage Adviser. He has worked in a variety of roles, including Senior Business Development Manager in the Mortgage Intermediary team, and subsequently running the Telephone Business Development Team. How did you decide on protection as a career?
Before I joined HSBC, I worked as a Mortgage Broker for one of the major networks. During the initial onboarding, I was lucky enough to spend time with Marius Barnard, the creator of Critical Illness insurance. His passion and enthusiasm for protecting people was infectious and given that my own Mum suffered a stroke when she was 40, it inspired me to want to one day work specifically in the insurance industry.

What is your most treasured possession?
A letter that a social worker wrote on behalf of my Mum to me (she is unable to write or say full sentences because of her stroke).

What is your favourite film?
Wolf of Wall Street.

Which talent would you most like to have?
I’d like to be able to sing really well.

Who is your favourite band/singer?
James.

What is the trait you most admire in others?
The ability to remember historical facts in great detail.
