*Mike Furniss left HSBC Life in Q1 2024*

After a long career in Wealth Management and Private Banking which began in 1995, Mike joined HSBC Life in 2014. He is also a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and a Chartered Financial Planner.

How did you decide on protection as a career? 
Having been in financial services for many years, mostly within wealth management, I started working with HSBC Life on a project to launch new products into the UK adviser market. I was instantly hooked with the buzz of helping to grow a business from scratch.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
After moving home recently it must be not doing anymore DIY for a few months!!! Or maybe being at the top of a mountain with no one else about just forgetting about the world.

What is your most treasured possession?
They are not my possessions, but it has to be my children, like any parent I would do anything for them. I treasure the time I have with them, and they always know they are loved.

What is your favourite film?
The shining – “Here’s Johnny!!!!”

Which talent would you most like to have?
Diplomatic charisma having the ability to talk myself in or out of any situation.

Becoming a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society – Lots of exams over many years
